Module works great out of the box, however I would recommend updating the firmware (Pascal's multimodule code) to get latest protocol features and stability. I have successfully updated mine to V1.2 When installed in the transmitter, it does not sit completely snug and may rattle. Add some padding around the side (e.g. Blu-Tack or tape) to fix this. Range is good on the module. Haven't tested extensively, but is definitely enough for LOS on ~1m wingspan plane. Even though this module comes with a mini-USB port, it doesn't work straight away. IRangeX hasn't put on the software to enable it, so you must install it yourself by separately purchasing a TTL to USB stick, doing a bit of soldering and then uploading the bootloader. Not difficult, but takes time to ensure you do the steps correctly. If the micro-USB was enabled from the factory, then firmware update would literally be a 5 minute job instead of an hour.
