After "real live" testing of the ER4, I purchased the ER8GV and thoroughly tested it on the ground for future use in a 3m glider. The tests are promising.

The receiver is great, but not as great as it could be. Design: I like the idea of the long and thin design for thin glider fuselages, BUT it is extreemly long and therefore mostly for larger gliders. But lager gliders can mostly use normal desgin receivers as well.... That means for me I will go with the normal one wherever possible and just use this one when absolutely needed. Features: It is great to have a UART port, but currently it is kind of useless as there are no sensors to attach to it from the manifacturer. Fortunately there is a DIY solutions which works just fine. You can either choose between RX voltage or flight pack voltage. Getting both is not possible except again using the DIY solution. Something I would expect the receiver to be capable of itself. Vario works great with just little delay (depends a bit on your settings) Signal: I was amazed by the range and signal quality. Really great! Price: Ok, but not great. Especially considering the additonal investment if you want to use more sensors or attach a GPS (without the price of the GPS itself). Having said that, it has decent build quality, so I'm not expecting this to be the cheapest option out there.
