I've been using a soldering iron since the early 80s. And as a hobbyists I have had plenty of burns from leaving it plugged in. Older irons have a magical way of removing solder pads from a pc board from getting too hot. With temperature control and a sleep setting an a beep sound, I think I will have a better chance of not damaging things. I don't know why this technology hasn't came out earlier. This station will replace 99% of my soldering needs. I still have my giant iron for old tube guitar amps. Note: The station was set up for Chinese you may have to fiddle around with it to find the English settings. Everything arrived as pictured with the hakko type handle. Looks to be well made, other than a deep scratch on the top it will be fine. Happy
