Interestingly, Chinese companies are now cloning each others stuff. This WL Toys F949's wing and fuselage are almost identical to the Nine Eagles Sky Eagle (also available here at BG). I posted a video on YouTube of the Sky Eagle over 4 years ago (titled "Micro Cessna RC by Nine Eagles - Sky Eagle"). This F949 has some pros and cons when compared to the original. I was very skeptical about the claimed flight time, but I can indeed confirm it is over 20 minutes, Amazing! The NE Sky Eagle's flight time is only 7 to 8 minutes. The geared setup of the F949 must be so much more efficient, but it is also more complicated and is more likely to have trouble. And in a crash, the Sky Eagle's prop just pops off and is easily put back on (a Nine Eagles patent), whereas the F949 is much more likely to be damaged. The Sky Eagle's servos are too small and tend to have some trouble, whereas the F949's seem to be more well designed like larger servos. Both planes fly equally well, little to no trim needed. The F949 seems to glide a little nicer, and makes for really easy landings, just cut the throttle and glide in. Make sure you bend the back landing gear so that the tail sits a little lower, otherwise your prop will hit the ground. Considering the F949 is quite a bit cheaper than the Sky Eagle, I would have to say it's a real winner, and wholeheartedly recommend it. Heck, at this price, you can easily buy another whole plane as a spare.
