I bought one of these mainly for nighttime reading. They work well for that purpose on white-low, but almost too bright for that. Great for hands free work. Also, the red or blinking red is good as a biking or night walking tail light. Red is also good for star gazing or amateur astronomy so you don't ruin your night vision. I wish they made some like this which run on AA, since AA have much more capacity, but even so AAA seem to have sufficient capacity for this unless you read for many hours on end. I'm still on my first set of batteries. Quality is pretty good for the price - the button could be a bit more sensitive, but not too objectionable. Function seems reliable.
