It would also make a good portable light for your auto. In that case, the light has a ragged-edged front that could possibly be used to break out a window if you are trapped after an accident. I have not tested this. I should also note that though you can use a rechargeable AA battery in it, the light itself does not permit recharging the battery while installed.
