Q: do I need a pair or is one sufficient?

Charl Just one is necessary. If you do put two in, the lid will open very slowly. There's also only the one side of the lid that's got access to the inside of the lid for the nut to fit.

I got the 4000w 24v inverter. The price difference and the reviews of the 3000w made me get this 4000w one. The biggest load I could put on it was my heat gun with a draw of 1780watts. And a current draw of 68amps. No alarms went off and I'm eager to see how far it will go before cutting out. I think this was a good buy!

Charl So I tested it to 2500w. At 2400w it beeps and as it reaches 2500w, it cuts out. I'm very impressed with it so far!
