A nice little dual-channel scope that gives pretty reasonable performance in a small, portable package. The kit is fairly straightforward to assemble and worked first time. I fitted the optional charger and switch board (and removed the two resistors that short them out if the boards aren't fitted. Just take care to be sure you identify all the parts before assembly (resistors can be a bit tricky as some of them can be misinterpreted, if you're not careful) and you'll have a running 'scope before too long. The firmware is a bit glitchy in that the device occasionally reboots (I haven't spotted what triggers this), but it's infrequent enough not to be too irritating. Hopefully JYETech will release an update from the current version (076) before too long.

A comprehensive set of bits, neatly packaged and with a high-quality finish. This item met my expectations and appears to work well. How it will fare over a long period remains to be seen, but if the quality is anything to go by, I expect it will last well.

Fantastic value for money. Exactly as advertised. The only negative is that the controller app requires your phone's GPS to be active and there's no obvious reason why that should be. The app could be improved to provide more comprehensive control, such as being able to generate your own patterns, but it's free and one shouldn't complain too much. I haven't looked but the protocol is or could be made available to enable someone to write some code to do this?

Q: Works very well but I don't understand why the Led Hue app needs GPS enabled to pair using Bluetooth. Why is this?

Works exactly as designed, provides a logic signal to indicate level of illumination. Bright ambient lighting will trigger it, so shielding may be required so that a break in the activating laser beam will generate a signal

This filter is easy to fit to the Convoy S2+ UV torch. It cuts down the visible emissions a little - less than I'd hoped for, to be honest, but still a useful reduction.
