Q: can it determine the heat in a single SMD sized electronic component on a crowded pcb?

Nick T It depends on the size of the component. This IR thermometer measures the temperature average of a circular area (which the thermometers lasers show) which gets larger the farther away your are and smaller the closer you are. To get a temp read on something small, you will need to put the sensor very close to it.

Nick T Use a hot glue gun to reinforce the base of the antenna so it doesn\'t blow over at high wind speeds.

Nick T If the motors are for a quadcopter, You will need both. If you’re only using the single motor, look on the side of the motor for an arrow. If the arrow is pointing left then clockwise, if the arrow is pointing right then counter clockwise. I hope that helps.
