BillyHill Don't know yet but I'm guessing anywhere from 3-6 months. Unit only operates for a very short time (1 second?) but detector is powered all the time. I have a 3-AA battery powered motion sensing light that needs batteries changed every 8 or 9 months.. I have read that other soap dispensers (4 battery) will last "up to" 1 year. I guess it all depends how dirty you are (or how clean you want to be). Also, there is an pushbutton ON/OFF on back of unit.

BillyHill I haven't found refills yet but container can be refilled easily. Mix 3 tablespoons liquid soap with 2/3 cup water.
