Q: Does the 3D have to be turned on or is it always on? If it needs to be turned on how is it done?

Digit Youneed to not put a lot solder on settings buttons at all I stopped using solder for those a small strip of box tape across them! If you soldered them lightly then maybe they've fallen off? Happened to me. I've built 3 of these soldering them can cause more problems than its worth I held then 1st with scotch tape then a strip of box tape worked better than solder by far!

Digit Hey I twisted 3 22 OHM resistors tougher solder them then replaced one side of the speaker wires with the 3 resistors and walla problem solved built 5 of these all only said "IT IS" then LED'S would blink out. Sounds like you might of got your Crystal TOO HOT. All 5 I built keep perfect time. They need to redesign these to solve it.
Digit A Guy suggested to me to put a 100 OHM resistor across the speaker still waiting for the 100 OHM'S to deliver how ever I had spare resistor maybe 470 ohm from radio kit so tried that and now speaks beyond "it is" and chimes hourly it is 1 O'clock etc no more leds out either when chiming. Failed once when the 100 OHM is in then solved!
