It was fun assembling this in an afternoon. No missing parts and good instructions on the download available for download. I did need to supply my own heat sink and fan, and since I had a 50 mm 12VDC fan, I swapped out the 7824 dedicated regulator with a 7812 for direct plug in. Everything works well and I had a 100VA 24VAC transformer to use with it. I plan to put it in a project box along with

wombat_991 Thanks for the info. Have you tried to program it with Arduino OTA software? I've run that on some other ESP8266 boards, and it works great (drop me a line if you have problems), but I have not tried it on a board that requires the GPIO pins to be shorted to flash (I have some ESP-01's that are that way, but they only have 512K of flash, so I cannot run OTA software on them). I'm curious to know if OTA works on this module.

Buyed one for installing custom firmware to open a garage door. Had to reverse eng. to find pinouts since there's no schematics. Found : GPIO4/19 = Relay (node MCU arduino pin name : D2) GPIO5/20 = input (node MCU arduino pin name : D1) 2 leds seems to be connected, one on output (activated a the same time of relay) and one on optocoupled input. wombat_991 I'm curious -- what is the carrier board for? For example, why did you put a micro USB connector on the carrier board and not use the micro USB that is on the NodeMcu board? What's the ribbon cable for? The techie in me needs to know... :-)Thanks.

I was really curious about this little fellow and decided to give it a try. Programmed it with Arduino IDE without any problems. I programed it a serial to MQTT converter which has been working for more than two weeks now without no breaks. Very quick link to WiFi. Good range.
